Photography Workshop FAQs

What Equipment Do I Need?

  • The most basic piece of equipment needed is a camera (preferably a digital SLR) that gives you some creative control over how images are taken.
  • For all field-trips please ensure you have spare camera batteries, memory cards, tapes or film & sensible clothing as we will be outdoors.
  • For all classroom editing sessions, a laptop with your choice of editing software would be very helpful (anything from the free Picasa by Google up to Photoshop, Aperture or Lightroom).

What Equipment Do You Provide?

  • Course materials in PDF & printed format.
  • Light refreshments, WiFi access and power during classroom sessions.
  • If you do not have a laptop we may be able to arrange this for you with sufficient advance notice.

When & Where Do You Run The Workshops?

  • Sessions will be announced on my web-site.
  • The masterclass normally consists of a minimum of 10 hours of tuition split over 2 consecutive Saturdays (usually 1pm-6pm).
  • The class-room portion is run from my studio in Kennedy Town (see the map on my Contact page).
  • Any field-trips will be run on Hong Kong Island anywhere between Kennedy Town and Causeway Bay (I have quite a few locations that work and locations can be mutually agreed with the participants.

What Is The Maximum Class Size?

  • The maximum class size for workshops is 6 students.
  • By keeping workshops small, I can answer questions in detail and help with technique and can also be flexible with class timing.

Do You Accommodate Groups/Charities?

  • I would be happy to consider providing bespoke photography workshops to larger groups either at the organisation’s location or at a venue I would mutually decide was suitable.
  • I would also be happy to discuss providing workshops at a nominal rate to registered charities.

How Much Do You Charge?

  • Prices are listed (in Hong Kong Dollars) for each course.

Who Will Be Teaching & What Are Their Qualifications?

  • I will be teaching all courses with assistants helping out on some occasions.
  • I am a freelance commercial photographer but I also run various training courses and am an Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop Lightroom.
