photography masterclass ($2,800)

This photography workshop gives you a comprehensive grounding in all aspects of photography from image capture & workflow, creative controls to file manipulation and output. The course includes:

introduction & mechanics:

• a brief introduction to photography
• the camera explained
• the exposure triangle (balancing ISO, aperture, shutter)

creative techniques:

• creative controls (exposure compensation, exposure modes, white balance, focal length)
• composition tips & techniques (rule of thirds, framing, active space, lines, contre-jour)
• advanced composition (portraits, action, children, night, panoramas, macro)
• advanced colour & lighting (colour models, colour spaces, creative flash)

darkroom & editing:

• digital workflow (ingest, edit, store, backup)
• exposure controls (histogram, tonal range, contrast, high/low key)
• exposure repair (B&W conversion, levels, curves, posterisation, etc.)
• pixel repair (clone stamp, spot heal, background removal, etc.)

field-trip(s):

• 1-2 guided field-trips around various locations on Hong Kong Island 
• hands-on tuition enabling you to test your new found skills

post-production practical:

• 1-2 hour digital editing session (please bring your own laptop) 
• manipulate your image files to get the best out of your camera
• experiment with various post-production techniques & effects
